What does the MIL indicate
We have been driving with the Amber MIL light on. We have topped up the coolant and oil but it is still on. The code shows EMC: SPN 729 FMI 3. Does anyone know if there is a code source book or app that can be purchased to interpret the codes?

It might help if you give information about your RV...
Make

Be careful with this one. In some applications MIL also stands for Malfunction Indicator lamp (or light). These have two entirely different functions.
We need more info from the OP to determine what vehicle they are in question about.

Whether it is "Malfunction" or "Maintenance", it means the same thing: something in the engine bay needs attention. It's not critical yet, but you need to take some action. That should be covered in your chassis and/or engine owner manual. What sort of rig do you have?

Actually, it stands for Malfunction Indicator Light.
That is why it's showing you a code.

Thanks for the feedback
Found out the issue. It Ishtar malfunction indicator light and it was not critical which was helpful to know as we were in the middle of our trip. Being a newbie to this i called Tiffen and they helped me find out the codes which one showed the engine air intake was too high and one was too low. They were able to determine that from the mixed signal there may be an issue with the cylanoid. We toolkit to a Cummins dealer in Toronto and they quickly found out the insulation at the back of the engine had come loose and was touching the two points causing the faulty readings. They said it wasn't urgent and we could have it services when we got back home. Thanks for all the help - it eased our mind driving with it on - only happens on the weekends!
