What Have You Done To Your Coach, by choice or not?

in reading forums for a few years now I notice people asking often what they can expect, do I though I would test my memory.

by choice I have

removed front 3m crap, ended up repainting front $3500

new carpet $1000

new TV's all around cabinets redone, 32 livingroomr 34 bedroom 40 downstairs $1000

in motion dish $2500

complete service even though owner claimed all up to date. filters, dryers, fluids, tranny change to synthetic and long life filters, guessing here, $750.00

not by choice,

tires $4000

Brake Service complete, new spring roller kits, $1100.

wipers, $100.00

re and re generator tray, rollers seized, my labour, $50.00

add ground post and cable to hydraulic slide/genny pump. $50.00

replace salesman solenoid, $35.00

new house batteries $600.00

Headlight lens kits, $75.00

regular service, $250.00, do my own

Headlight adjusters, $20.00

electronic repair air levelling board, $100.00 got lucky

generator ground cable, this was tough one to find, $10.00

replace corroded lug on slide/genny hydraulic pump $10.00

All in all lots of little things, but not overly expensive if you are somewhat handy and have time to mess with it.

Im sure there are more I will add later

How much did that whole setup end up costing you?

There's been numerous little things, but the best is the residential fridge, and the moving of the headbanger tv into a cabinet behind the loveseat that is mounted on a lift. Then we put two recliners across from the tv.

This year, routine maintenance, new flat screen tv/dvd in front, invertor so the crockpot can run while on the road when generator is not, two drawers under bed for easy access additional storage and a new corian stove cover. I could look up the costs, but like the classic cars, its probably better to not dwell on the cost and just enjoy the added functionality!

Lord willing, next year the decals will be replaced with painted stripes, etc. I'm sure we'll find some other things we want to add as well.

Well, we are re-doing an RV originally purchased by previous owner as an office. Five desks!

We will be removing a wall, and most cabinets. I want to re-carpet the ceiling.

One desk will be shortened and put back. I have my office in here and LOVE this space!

There will be a much better kitchen once we finish. Not planning to move the microwave or do anything with the bathroom.

This is one ugly unit, but unless we get the itch to paint it, there won't be exterior changes except for lights... hubby is gathering up what he needs to redo all the lights on the exterior. The brake lights will be larger, brighter and no way will anyone be able to miss those turn signals! Running lights will make this unit impossible to claim that it was not seen.

Since I want us to tour Canada, he is even comparing the rules for RV's there as well as here, and intends to, while he is re-doing things anyway, make all the lights and such comply for both sides of the border.

Right now the back room is a bedroom. We plan to gut it, redo all the cabinetry and create bunks. Want it to handle four teens and give them space during the day to get away from the adults if they wish. My desk lets me see directly into the room though, so not TOO much away from the adults!

Have NO idea how we will do our bed, which will be in the front area. Am not sure how we shall put enough seats in AND a bed. That is the one part I cannot visualize well.

My only regret is that considering how many of us will be using this thing, that it is only 36 feet or so. I could happily have had several feet longer. Once you get this large, a few more feet doesn't really seem all that much.

But on this budget, this is our RV!

I don't have an actual total but doing all the work myself; with the panels, charge controller, 3 new 150ah batteries, the inverter and all the wires, boxes and breakers???????????

$3000 wouldn't be far off in one direction or the other.

Repaired my Onan 4ky generator. I repaired the rotor and eventually had to use two bad generators to make one that works. I learned more than I wanted to if you know what I mean.

VERY NICE......

I am thinking of the same upgrade. Can you help me out with a couple details please.

How far out from the wall did the couch move? Wondering what the aisle walk way will be with the slide in.

What left did you use? Where purchased? It looks perfect....

Size of TV you used?

Thanks.

Doing by choice or not future tense

We will be replacing the 6 gal water heater with an Atwood tankless water heater; will be replacing the Suburban NT-30 furnace with a Suburban NT-40 to help with the cold nights that we camp out in quite regularly; will be replacing the gray and black water tank vents with 360 vent caps to help keep out the wasps and mud daubers; and finally will be replacing burned out Onan generator with a Honda 7K generator. Good times ahead.
