What is this?
I have an old Kariba washer/dryer and it has some sort of filter looking thing behind a door near the bottom. Does anyone know what it is?

It exactly that, a filter. It filters water leaving the tub so the pump/drain won't be clogged by stuff in the used water ...wet lint primarily. It should be unscrewed and cleaned frequently ...I do the one on our Splendid about every other load. Of course, you remove it only when the machine is not running...

That is a catch basket for coins, jewelry, hair pins, whatever may come out of clothes pockets. It is rarely full and rarely causes an issue. Turn it counter clockwise and pull straight out. Put a towel down I. Front to catch any excess water. There will be a little.

Not my brand of W/D but , it has a, removable debris screen, to keep the pump clear , in a similar location.
Do you need a manual for your washer dryer?
EDIT: I see a couple of other members posted while I was typing. Man I type slow.

Have one on my big washer at home. I check it every year whether it needs it or not. Never any lint or coins. Guess I have to stick with shaking the coach cushions..

A manual would be nice to have. My Navigator came with manuals for pretty much everything except the w/d.

I have on on my house washer. It is a filter to help keep your drain from clogging. I try to clean it every few months. Put an absorbent towel under it when you unscrew it. It can trap some water

Remember......Your hoses to your washer/dryer should be replaced every couple of years. Don't want one letting go while your "out & about". Not a good thing to come home to.

We don't use the washer much. A typical trip for us is 3-5 days. The shut-off valves are easy to get to so I turn them off when not in use. But you are right about needing to change them occasionally. Thanks for the reminder. I have no clue how old mine are.
