I am not sure how your coach is laid out. Could it be a filler for the stairwell to keep people or kids from falling down the stairs? I had a similar piece in a previous coach.

A pic that shows how the legs function might help.

Do you have a dining table or benches? Could it convert the benches into a bed?

maybe a tea table. in my coach, there is a foldable tea table from the manufacturer. when the slide is out, we put the tea table in front of the couches.

Looks like a couch pull out to make the couch in to a bed. Especially if you have an "L" shaped couch.

X2 - Looks like an extension to turn a couch (or L-shaped dinette) into a bed. With the long 2x4 possibly placed in a slot just at the edge of the existing couch, the legs don't have to lock into place.

A couple of observations , the backing, 1x3 ? , is screwed to the plywood , factory would have glue/stapled the parts together , and to the right in the picture , I see exposed particle board, not original.
Indications of major modifications by a previous owner, so probably only one person who could tell exactly what it's for .
