What is this under my bed?

I have removed my bed to accommodate the mechanics that are replacing the Cummins head gasket and need to know what that black box is.

Looks to be a heater of some type with two round vents that attach to the bed base frame.

It looks to be plumbed into the Cummins engine cooling system with an in/out line.

Is this my engine warmer?

If so, where do I turn it on?

That looks like an auxiliary or rear heater working off the engine coolant. It should have a 12 v fan in the box with the heater core. If the valve an the engine right after the bleeder valve is in the line running to the heater, that's how to allow hot coolant into the heater core. You'll have to trace the 12 v wiring to find the switch or perhaps it's hooked to your wall thermostat. It would only be in effect when running the engine.

Sometimes those auxiliary heaters back in the bedroom will have a fan switch on the dash. Hot coolant is always circulating while the engine is running but it is the fan which will transfer the heat to make the interior of the coach warmer while traveling down the road. Obviously, it will do nothing when parked with the engine off after the engine has cooled.
