So I'm watching this thread for any advice for 4 people. We like steaks. I generally preheat a solid grill which covers half the plate to seal the steaks then move the steaks to the open flame.
Ill need to buy a full plate for the weber and take it off after I've sealed them I guess PITA.
Just did five good sized steaks on my Q100 last night no problem.

Ok
Ill give it a go
I changed the regulator on mine as it kept going into shut down. So I replaced it with a standard reg.
If in still not happy I reckon I got a dud because most everybody else loves their weber.

We did 4 half lbs burgers last night on our new weber 120 I must say I am impressed, I do have a question for weber Q owners, the book says not to oil the grate. What do other Q owners do? Oil or not? My cousin oils his 100 but it is a few years old. Thanks

We've got the Q120. I'll oil the grate for chicken to get the chicken to release a little easier for flipping. Not needed for burgers since they've got their own oil/grease. For steaks I wipe the steaks clean and rub them with olive oil before hand so oil isn't needed. No oil usually needed for pork.

Just how I do it. Others probably have their techniques as well.

We've got the deluxe version of the Coleman Road Trip Grille. It's looks pretty and sexy, but that's about it. In some fairness, it cooks okay. But it has some really dumb design flaws that are really irritating.

When the Coleman is folded/packed up for storage, it rocks back and forth on the bottom because the feet in the center stick down about an inch or more. Have to put it on a couple of foam blocks in the pass-through. The full-size griddle does not allow the top to be put down. The grille has a pan under the grates that you are supposed to put water in. How in the heck are you supposed to dump a pan full of grease + water in a campground? The metal is pretty flimsy and they shouldn't have bothered with the latch they put on it's so thin. The flame control isn't that great and you can't get it down to a low/simmer temp. and you can't see the flame without lifting a grate. Grrr.....

We had to return the first Coleman we got because it wouldn't even work the first try we tried it. Would never buy another Coleman grille. We her about so many Weber BBQ owners raving about theirs and that's what we'd get next. It's got to have folding legs and be easy to store in the pass-through as one big factor for us.

The weber Q has a portable stand that can be purchased which folds up and will fit in a pass-through storage at least my pass-through. I did not get it with mine as I have a roll out table. But have a few friends that have them and love em. Around 50 at lowes.

We use the Pam spray-on butter on the grille (flat or grilling surfaces) which works really well (lift grille up to spray). Not sure if it has bad stuff in it or not, but so much does anyway these days. The only time the Pam has trouble is with some BBQ sauces when it bakes on and takes elbow grease to clean off (that's okay for me tho since DW does the cleaning in our camper, lol).

DW is against any oil because of the calorie content (been dieting for some time).

Shouldn't Pam work on any grille??

BTW, one nice thing we do like about the Coleman is the 1/2 grilles. You can put a grate on once side for pots and a flat grille on the other 1/2 for meat. We almost never have to use the cooktop inside unless it's raining out.

With the Toy Hauler, I carried a full size Weber Genesis 330 4 burner w/ side burner, in the garage. I cooked bacon and eggs on the side burner, and pancakes on a griddle. We cooked for up to 30 people at times. Now I haven't decided what I am going to do with the upcoming DP. I really really like the Weber Genesis series (even more than their more expensive Summit Series), but what makes them so special also makes them difficult to carry, is their weight. They hold heat and cook more evenly than any gas grill I have owned. The availability of cheap parts on the internet and certain retailers also make them appealing. Now if I can figure out a way to build a folding stand that mechanically folds up into one of the cargo bays.
