What motorhome has a 7000lb tow rating
Looking to buy a used motorhome with a tow rating of at lease 7000lb.
I am looking a an older diesel pusher . what length would I need to get

Most all , Dutch Stars, on a Spartan Chassis , have a 10,000 lb. tow rating.
Those built on Freightliner have 5,000.
36' and up. All Newmar's older brochures, are available on their web site with floor plans and spec's.

My Freightliner is 10k, not sure where the 5k number comes from. the only way to tell will be to try and find a brochure, or look at the Manufacturers label affixed to the rig. Even then all bets are off until you weigh the rig loaded and ready to go.

It's not necessarily the MH it's the chassis if you are worried about towing start with the chassis. A rev on a spartan has plenty for you and lots to spare.

The larger (longer) Holiday Rambler/Monaco units I believe are all rated at 10K. We have a 2001 HR Imperial and it is rated at 10k on the "S" series Roadmaster chassis. The chassy is steel and I keep reading is one of the stronger ones out there. Keep reading as there is lots of good info on this board.

Agree, not only do you need to know the tow wt, you need to know the tongue wt, GVWR, Combined wt and what you actually have left after you are fully loaded for the road. You should not exceed the GVWR, axel wt or combined wt. While many MHs state a tow wt, you may not be able to tow say, 10k lbs if you are at GVWR.

Our '97 37' HR is rated at 5000 I believe (maybe 4000?). Not because the engine/trans/brakes won't handle more (IMHO), but because of the mickey mouse engineering/bracketry they have going on for framework in back of the engine? It's like the hitch/towing capacity were afterthoughts? It's all pretty beefy, but there are brackets bolted to brackets, that are bolted to bigger brackets that are then bolted to the frame? NOT a very good example of purpose built engineering....
Point being, you have an excellent plan checking/verifying hitch capacity prior to purchase if that's important to you. Best of luck in your hunt. -Al

Entegra is 15K, but hard to find one used and 4-5 years old is as good as it gets. As its predecessor is Travel Supreme which i believe was on a Mountain Master chassis, wouldn't surprise me if they were 15k as well.

The tow rating is not necessarily length related, but different manufacturers specify different ratings and generally speaking, the older the MH, the lower the tow rating.

Our American Coach has 15,000 capacity with 1,500 tounge weight on a Spartan chassis. I would suggest to be on the safe side when planning to haul this much a tag axel would be a smart choice, more brakes, stability, and controll. JMHO.

Our Winnebago Vectra (2005) has Freightliner's Evolution chassis with 10,000lb tow weight and 500lb tongue weight. \ken

Length has nothing to do with it.
The difference between the GVWR and GCWR usually posted somewhere in the MH will tell you.
Most older DP will have a difference of 5K or 10K.
You want the one with the 10K.
You can download any Fleetwood MH Brochure for their spec.

Our 1995 Monaco Dynasty is only 36', and has a tow rating of 10,000 lb.

The manual on our rig, 1995 Country Coach, recommends not exceeding 7,000 lbs towing and 600 lbs tongue weight.
It sports a Gillig Bus chassis and a Cummins 300hp 8.3l mechanical engine.
