What % off for new 2017 motorhomes?
Looking at new 2017 motorhomes and wondering what % off list if trading in a 2003 Winnebago Journey. Looking at Fleetwoods and Tiffins. Fleetwoods are more in our price range but may go for a Tiffin.

With RV sales through the roof right now, you don't have as much bargaining power as you would in bad times or high fuel prices. But with the chatter of interest rates climbing soon that MIGHT slow sales some. But with gas prices down and consumer confidence up I doubt it in the short term. Probably 20% off MSRP is normal, 25% is a good deal, anything higher than that is a great deal. But I would be leary of that coach/salesman and check the MH over VERY, VERY well. The dealer may know some things about that particular coach that you don't and want to move it off his lot. LIKE bad slide outs. There's always a bad apple in every basket.

Hard to say with a trade...lots of wiggle room for the dealer.

I would sell your trade by yourself but that's me... Then you can see what the real discount is... If you keep your trade in the deal you'll never know what the real discount is... Or you can throw the trade in after you work your deal and get there bottom line first... I would stick with Newmar or Tiffin no matter which model you pick... You should get somewhere 27% & 30% depending on what you go with...

Go pick the coach you want and ask for a cash deal with no trade, because you have a friend that wants to buy your 03 Winny. Once you have their best price, you mention that your friend could not get the funds and now you need to trade it in. Then you'll find out the real value of it as a trade in. Compare it to NADA and then go have a drink. Selling outright is better, but you will pay more sales tax on the new one because of no trade. Or some states do not have a sales tax on private sales, but do if it's from a dealer. Maybe that is something to consider.

If you don't out right own the trade then you are going to get screwed in the process. they won't give you but 50 - 60% of the value of your MH that you are trading, so you will take it in the shorts. As someone else said sale your MH and then make a deal on a new one.

With close out Entegras, you can get 32-35% off. Neymar's are more in the 22-25% off, and I don't know about Tiffin.

I'd guess Fleetwood wood be a solid 30% discount all day long especially since '18 inventory is showing up daily. And I agree with everyone's feedback on selling your trade privately or making your deal first before any mention of the trade. Even if you sell your unit privately at a discount to move it quickly, you are almost certain to come out better than a trade, even when figuring in the tax benefit of a trade available in some states.

As I said before I got 35% off before we talked trade in. 300k unit for 195k @ La Mesa RV PHX
Ya I took it in the shorts on my trade in. Lost 40%
BUT then I wasn't sitting on 2 MHs at one time, maybe months before I sold first one, dealer was 1000 miles from home, I finally got the RV I've dreamed about, could afford the trade in loss and the new RV. Full timers, no place to put both RVs We had friends help us move out of the old one right next the new one at the dealers late afternnon.
