What RV salvage businesses do experienced RVer's recommend?
I'm looking for somewhere to buy an odometer for a 1997 Holiday Rambler Imperial 40 WDS. Apparently new can't be had anymore. According the folks at Monaco National Parts, the vendor that made the OE unit is now "hostile". I'm guessing that has something to do with HR trading hands 4 times over the years and Monaco going bankrupt in 2009 after the economy crashed in 2008.
None the less, I need to locate a digital odometer in some shape form or fashion so we can start tracking mileage for service intervals and MPG tracking.
Any help is appreciated.

You might also look ISSPRO up online and give them a call or send them an email. The have been rebuilding gages for years and have a good reputation.

An alternative solution could be your GPS. If you have one dedicated to the coach, it could track mileage for you. It would also save you whatever hassles you would have with the DMV in replacing the odometer.

That's an interesting thought. Is there such a thing as a GPS unit that records mileage? I know my Garmin(s) in the past show how many miles are left in a trip, but didn't record mileage long term. I guess I need to look into GPS for this purpose.

I have a garmin nuvi 765. I don't have it in front of me but I know that it records total trip miles and has to be manually reset to zero it out. What I don't know for sure is if it records miles when it is not navigating a trip.

It would be great if it would. I like the idea of using it for accuracy of the speedometer function alone. If it recorded (total) mileage that would be great.

I did a search for "digital odometer repair" and came up with several, here is one.

I have never seen a GPS with an odometer to record total miles traveled.
Is there such a thing?

John, my Rand McNally GPS records mileage BUT not sure if it records all the time or just the trip log into it. It actually has 3 separate trip mileage places on it. It is located on the Virtual Dashboard of the GPS which also shows speed and all kinds of things that I can't remember right now!!
