What RV to Buy?

Hi I am a newbie to Rv'ing so new haven't purchased one yet; we are currently looking at two both 2004 DPs first is a 39 foot Fleetwood Discovery, second is a Gulf Stream Atrium 41 both have low miles and are in excellent shape. Can anyone give advice on these two as far as resale down the road? We have friends coming form Orient this summer to see USA so we thought a RV would be an excellent way to go need to sleep 6. Hello and welcome to iRV2. As many will tell you, RVs are not known for their good resale value. Both of those are great coaches, so just choose the one that seems to best fit your needs and have it checked out mechanically. Also be sure to check the tire dates as a new set of tires is expensive. Good luck.

You will soon have a number of folks singing the praises of various coaches for various reasons. What you have to do is arm yourself with knowledge about coaches and what will fit your need not those of us who give you the advice on what to buy.
Here's a great starting place to arm yourself. rv.org pay what they're asking, it will be the best money you spend on your coach. Read all the material then look at their ratings for various coaches (I have found it to be right on the money) Decided what coaches will work for you. Then go to oodle.com, it searches all over the web, plug in what you want. It will even email you daily updates if you check that box. Beware of deals that sound too good to be true, they are not. Plan on doing some traveling to look at coaches, and take your time to buy one that is right for you.

No coach has a good resale value, but some models are more popular than others. Gulfstream has never been a big hit in the RV market, new or used, but there probably isn't all that much impact of price.

Personally, I would not bother to include resale value in a motorhome buy decision. Too unpredictable and too many other factors are more important. Trying to evaluate difference in resale value is even harder. And if you are thinking to buy, use it for several months and then re-sell, you are in for a financial "bath" anyway.

I just picked up my First Motorhome ever, I used to work on them so I have always wanted one.

We purchased a 7 year old rig 10 years ago. We think we paid an appropriate price at the time.

Our depreciation has been about 9% per year.

MRock, I see you are in Charleston. Any chance the Fleetwood is at Coastal RV sales? If so I have purchased from them before and would recommend them highly as good, honest people.
