We are buying a 2007 Winnebago from a local dealer and want to replace the interior furniture and captain's chairs. We were very interested in Flexsteel, but after reading some quality issue posts about their RV and home items, I am starting to rethink the choice. What companies would you recommend?
Here is our story: buying an RV to move from Florida to Washington state. Family of 5 with 4 adults. Once in Washington we plan on renting the RV. Trip is expected to take about 1 month. Quality is most important followed by of course comfort.

Interior furniture can be from anywhere if it fits, and you can get it through the door. We took out the couch and put in two LazBoy recliners in it's place. We've never thought of replacing the Flexsteel captains chairs.

Have you considered just having someone replace the fabric? Unless they are totally destroyed it might be worth a look. I am looking at that for our captains chairs also as the original Winnebago fabric is not available for a small repair and I want them both to match.

I don't care much for the comfort of the seats and the bed is just a jack knife. We are a very tall family and that type of bed is not good for us.

I agree about the comfort (lack of) in the Flexsteel seats. We had seats in a 2013 Thor Challenger 37 DT that were great. I don't know the brand. But if you ask Thor what seats they used then, I recommend them. I wish I had them back.

I had Flexsteel captain seats in my 2014 Excursion and now in my 2015 Discovery. Both were quite comfortable and I've had 7 hour + drives in both.

As far as replacing couches and other seats I did replace my jack knife sofa in the Excursion with a very comfortable leather recliner. In retrospect, although I did screw the recliner as securely to the floor as I could, I'm concerned that this probably is not as safely mounted as the factory furniture was. I assume thee is some sort of construction standards required for MH furniture, but I don't know that. I kept the seat belts in place biut I wonder if they'd do more harm than good I an accident if the couch broke loose by the belts held firm on the occupant.

Just something to keep in mind before you swap out furniture.

If anyone knows what the industry standard is I would be interested to know. I suspect most manufacturers use the same or similar captains chairs depending on chassis and line.

I have Flexsteel captain seats in my DS and they are very comfortable. If you want to change this site will have most of what you will want.

I wouldn't EVER consider Flexsteel again. The ones in our '02 Georgetown were the most uncomfortable I ever encountered. The cushions were too long fore/aft. At 5'10" I needed a back cushion. At under 5', my wife couldn't drive the rig, as there was no telescopic steering column adjustment and the seats had no height adjustment.

I did a couple of years post-retirement from Boeing as a transit coach driver. Those coaches had Recaro seats and were fine for a 9-hour shift. More adjustments than you can imagine and very comfortable cushioning and upholstery.

It is not easy to replace captain's chairs with another brand due to the mounting bases being different. I wanted to replace Flexsteels with Villas and nobody would sell them to me. The hole pattern in the base is different, and nobody would accept the liability of modifying them to fit.

We did the same thing in our '02 DSDP. Worked out well for us. In fact in the present rig we took out the Stressless chair and ottoman and put a La Z Boy recliner/rocker in it's place. The Stressless was uncomfortable for both of us.

Every Body is different.

Find a Motorhome furniture place and go sit in their various models of captains chairs to find a good fit.

Hint......the more expensive ones feel really good.
