Hello,

We have just purchased a used Monaco Exec DP. It's a 1997 and its has supme bugs to be worked out. Like the docking lights don't work and some of the lights on the inside will not come on. But it is used.

Anyway was just curious as to what the idle should be. When I put the coach in drive it's starts moving without me having to touch the peddle. Not sure if this is normal as this is my first DP - have a fifth wheel that we still pull.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Ours idles around 700rpm and will move in gear without the foot on the brake

Mine will start moving at idle when in gear. I believe that is normal. I don't know exactly but idle RPM is in the 700 range.

Most DP's will move on idle. All that torque easily moves things even at 700 rpm.

Was a bit worried. Mine is at 700 and does the same. Just wanted to I make sure that was"normal".

I'm guessing your engine is a Cummins M11. They like to idle around 700 rpm as do most medium-heavy duty diesels.

700 and the torque will move it without foot on break.

Mine idles around 700rpm too.

On the docking lights check with a test light. Sometimes because they are exposed to the elements the bulb will develop corrosion around the metal part and not allow the bulb to be grounded.

It will actually go fast enough at an idle that I have to apply the brakes constantly in campgrounds, parking lots etc.

Keep in mind.....at a mere 1500 rpm your coach will do 60 mph.

I idle at 700 rpms. If I put it in gear on flat ground I will start moving forward.

Yes it is the M11. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. We have fifth wheel and this my first DP.

Thank so. Didn't know if it was a common problem or not for them to go out. Just fixed the light in the handle and it was a bad and corroded bulb. Can't stand for things to not work.

I am also trouble shooting why the fluorescent lights as you come in and the two mounted under the cabinets on the driver side over the couch don't work. Already know it is not the bulbs.
