What to buy?
Okay so we just picked up our 2011 Berkshire 390bh. This is our third A, but our first diesel. I'm no mechanic but I do know there are some things that would be a pretty good idea to have on board in case they are needed. One would be an assortment of bayonet fuses and another would be a top end tire gauge. What else? I've thought that I should have a couple of extra quarts of oil. I'm still trying to find out what oil to use in a 340hp Cummins. I'm sure that info is in one of the 14 million pages of manuals that I have, but I haven't located it yet. What else should I have on board just in case?

Hi wnytaxman,
Congrats on the new coach. This is not the entire list of what I carry, but it might do for a started list.
1. 2 gallons (not quarts) of motor oil.
2. 2 gallons of antifreeze
3. 1 gallon of tranny fluid (the same that is in there now)
4. Extra filters:
4a. fuel
4b. fuel water separator
4c. oil
5. a large variety of fuses. There are at least two different sizes of blade fuses maybe more. Check all you fuse locations to ensure a ready supply
6. rags/shop towels
7. basic set of tools (screw drivers, wrenches, etc.)
8. tire gage (I carry 3)
9. Consider joining a roadside emergency plan.
10. flashlights (I carry 4)
emergency roadside reflective triangles (set of 3)
11. portable battery charger
12. portable starting battery (mainly for the toad if there is a problem and we are away from the coach).
13. extra set of engine belts (a/c, alternator, etc.)

Make sure the oil is correct for the diesel. I carry a gallon of Rotella. An air compressor would be good unless you have an air line like I do that will fill your tires from the on board air system. Duct tape, electrical tape, an assortment of electrical connectors and crimping tool, electrical tester (I'm still learning how to use mine), a roll of Eterna Bond tape, work gloves, flash lights and batteries.

Thanks so much for your help. As always the good folks at irv2 come through. Gary I think your list is pretty complete and I like what the rest have added. I've got a few days to gather up what I need so I should be okay.
