You do not want your slide seals (inner or outer) or your slide wipers (the big flappy part) to stick to anything or they will rip and you'll be stuck replacing them.

Therefore, the most any seal manufacturer recommends is to use talc (baby powder) on a thoroughly dry seal that has been washed with soap and water.

Despite the number of wonder-products on the market that claim to have saved many lives and made coffee for millions of people, virtually any liquid/spray/dry chemical "conditioner" "lube" "preserver" "restorer" "cleaner" other than plan soap and water can either leave a residue or partially dissolve the seal (as happens when people use "tire shine" products so they look nice and shiny - they are actually dissolving the tire! Only exception is the NON-petroleum based Formula 303 UV protectant - but I would not use that on the seals, although some say they have for years).

I have never heard of any seal manufacturer recommending anything else other than soap and water.

Everyone will chime in, I'm sure, and I'll bet many have had years of good luck with their product of choice.

Less is sometimes all you need.

I've been using Pledge on my coaches for 20 years. I use it on the door seals to keep them quiet, clean the dash, clean the wood work, lubricate items when nothing else is quickly available, use it on Clear 3M bra, tires, wheels and many other items.

When I had my Class C, with the corrugated fiberglass exterior, it started to get chalky in later years. When trying to wax certain sections, the wax would get hard to apply. I would spray on some Pledge to lubricate the skin and the wax went on much easier.

I owned a boat for many years with slotted chrome wheels. It often sat for months between uses. Prior to putting it away, I would saturate the rims with Pledge to protect them. When I would pull the boat out, I would just rinse off the rims, no rust.

Almost as many uses as WD40.
