What would you buy for 70k

Hi,

This is a hypothetical question.

If you were in the market for a class A or helping a friend or family member what would you choose for 70k? This is to include sales tax and other fees, any maintaince required and any modifications. Cost does not need to include towing setup.

Size range would be 28-36ft, ability to be used from 20f to 120f for 60 nights a year.

Thanks,

Stephen

This is the first coach that I would go look at.

Why? Because it is pretty much identical to what I have, and my coach has had zero problems. It's quiet (for a gas), well built and has a nice interior .

If I had $70,000 I would just start looking at every used motorhome under $50,000. Keep $20,000 to upgrade and cover repairs. Don't get hung up on brands or age.Find a floor plan you like. Check it over really careful.

Great advice motorpro.

I don't mind the age too much once it has full body paint.

Motorpro is dead on. Though I would find a unit that is ready or near ready to roll and keep most of the extra $20k in my pocket

I had 50K to play with and found what I wanted for 50K. Spent maybe 6K on tires and piece of mind after. Id look for anything that was pre 2005 for less emission controls, 400hp and 3 slides

What I would buy would depend on what I'm going to use it for....weekend warrior or FTing.

For me it's not full time, but not week3nd warrior either. Probably in the range of 60 nights a year.

I would look for a 2001-2005 Dutchstar, midlevel Monaco, dp with around 50,000- 75,000 miles.
Enough miles that it has been driven and used.

Keep an eye on PPL Motor Homes. They have a lot of consignment coaches and owners wanting to get out of them.

My personal opinion would be to find one on a Workhorse Chassis with the 8.1L Chevy engine. I think they quit using Workhorse chassis back in 2011. If you can find a Workhorse UFO chassis (Engine in rear) you would have a quiet coach.

This coach was the top of the line for Tiffin gas coaches. https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/used-r...o-bay_rv-36592

I'd buy a 03 to a 08 Dolphin and keep $35,000 in MY pocket. The Dolphin is built just as good as and much better than some other gas coachs of the era. I'm very happy with the quality build of National coachs.

look for a bounder. they are very popular and parts seem to be plentiful and for some reason they seem to hold their value better then most Rv's (still isn't good but good for Rv's)

2003 Dutch Star

I bought this two weeks ago from a individual. I changed all fluids and filters in engine and genset. I installed New headlights and taillights.
Tax, registration and work noted above I have 52k in it.
104,564 miles on 350 HP cummings. Near new tires and brakes. I already made my first road trip and all systems are good to go.
