What's with the white leather fabric?

In our research of diesel pushers, the vast majority of the ones on the dealer lots and websites have white (or nearly white) Ultraleather upholstery. Next most common in our experience are the light tan colors.

Are many of you buying coaches with this color of leather upholstery? If not, why do the manufacturers push it so hard? For reference, we are talking Allegro Bus, Winnebago Tour, etc, level coaches.

While not being our favorite color even when new, we are concerned about our ability to keep it clean as fulltimers with dogs.

Anyone have any advice about this? BTW, our favorite color is the light brown often called Bomber Jacket (kind of a milk chocolate color.)

Thanks in advance for the responses!

Roy

3 owners and 13 years later the Light tan ultra leather in our coach and tan carpet clean up just fine.
New coaches with white carpet are the ones that make me scratch my head

Of course we are ...because as you have seen that's about all there is to buy w/o a custom build!

We did see a coach at a show several years ago with black leather seats, couch, recliner, etc ...not many who viewed it liked it.

I would prefer a tan or light brown to white, but most are a fair compromise as an off-white/ivory/cream. A darker brown or black would likely be hotter up front right there behind the huge "solar energy collection device" that holds up the wipers.

Our sightseer came with white ultra leather upholstery. We love and it cleans up with just a quick wipe of plain water, regardless of what the dog does to it. It's the white carpeting that makes me crazy.

I think the RV interior decorators have never lived in one. The lighter colors make the rig look bigger and brighter on the sales lot. The lighter colors also are cooler to sit on in the hot sun, but I agree, they need more frequent cleaning. We use covers on the seat the dog sits on, thus defeating all the showroom flashiness the decorators were going for.

I have the white color in mine and I can think of no other color that would have did it justice.

It's a Mareting tool, when it gets dirty, you have to trade it in to trade it in. lol

I've seen some darker colors on recent Entegra coaches.

Fleetwood Southwinds & Terras have medium brown colors available.

Think you folks might be overlooking something.

I'd wager that all the manufacturers marketing departments discovered that UltraLeather is CHEAPER then any other treatment and so use that all the while telling customers that "Our customers are requesting it". Bull. Lighter colors are probably less expensive then darker. And it isn't leather, it's plastic. According to their web site, it's: 100% POLYURETHANE SURFACE WITH 100% REINFORCED RAYON BACKING.

I have several friends with UL that's all cracked in their favorite sitting places after as little as 2 years.

Give me my plastic in a fabric style, please. Getting much harder to find in newer rigs.

Ours are off white and clean up is easy. So much so that we've considered it for the stick and brick.

Edit: The wife wanted the new bus with black furniture. So from one extreme to the next we go.

We have off white leather on the front Flexsteel seats. Still in good shape after 10 years with no cracks. They do have some claw marks from our cats though!

We also have the white washed real maple woodwork. Optional but well worth it.
