What's your speed limit

Most of the time based on the wind and traffic we travel around 60 MPR. Added rear trac bar and front Safe T Plus steering which helps 100% but still stay around 60 MPR. I like this speed not only for gas but for comfort of driving.

I often find my self exceding the limit against my better judgement ,so i now try to keep it near 65

We just made trip before Easter Sunday. I never drove over 60 mph during the entire trip. Our trip was 1250miles round trip.
According to my Scan Gauge II. I averaged 9.3 miles to the gallon. we had really bad head winds coming from Yuma, took a little over 3.5 hours to go from the CA/AZ border to the Pine Valley exit. 131.5 miles.

If people don't like how slow I drive they can go around me.

I usually keep at 62-65 on the interstate, I get 7-8 mpg out of the 460 gasser with a 36' rig towing a sidekick tin top. Mountainous roads put it down to about 45 though, very heavy rig for that small of motor.

We drove down to Arizona through Ca. this winter instead of Utah and found the fuel mileage at 55 impressive. The roads weren't always impressive though.

I just drove the length of California twice at 55 mph---it's the law towing----and they are inforcing the law much to the chagrin of some fellow RV'rs. I found it enjoyable. I avoid freeways as much as practical-----pull out when safe, frequently. Other states 62 is a good speed. Life is good.

We've been running around 63 mph for years and my lifetime average over 40000 miles had been 8.8 with a Cummins ISL 400.

We drove from Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon this week and decided to keep it at 57 mph with our traveling companions in a fifth wheel. The bulk of the trip was through the desert with a light tail wind. I averaged 10.2 from Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon and then back to Needles. We hit some pretty serious head winds from Needles to Barstow and we stayed at about 56-57 mph. We averaged 9.7 on the last leg/fuel up. Overall, we got just a smidge over 10.0 mpg on the 1050 mile trip. The 5-6 mph decrease and easy throttle on acceleration netted us an additional 1.2 mpg.

All of this was tracked via my VMSpc and a manual check of the the mileage and fuel ups. I also level my coach when I fill up, with my jacks, to make the mileage record more accurate. Our coach weighs in at 28000 lbs loaded.

Interesting

We normally go 62MPH on the freeway but if we can increase our fuel mileage from 8,8 to 10,2 (or a little over 10) by going 5 MPH slower this may be worth doing since we are never in a hurry to be at a specific place at a specific time.

Only downside, as we see it, is that we only get into highest gear at 58 MPH, so running at this speed could cause more gear changes a smaller hills. On flat roads this wouldn't be an issue.

TW what kind of mpg do you get? I'm thinking about running closer to 55 this summer to see if it boosts mpg. I normally run around 62.

That looks good Don! I'm thinking about lowering my speed this summer on our travels last year I averaged 8.2 mpg at 62-65 mph. I'm a little heaver coach than yours at 31,000 lbs.

My Allison 6 speed will shift into 6th at 52 MPG.
I have found 55-58 MPH(1650-1700RPM) will give me 10.3 to 10.7 MPG.
And it is above the posted minimum speed limit.

I will push it up to 60-62 MPH while traveling in high traffic areas. Like through downtown Atlanta, GA. that has a 55 MPH posted limit.
