The factory ones are usually behind the headlite, rt side, out of the wind, sun and rain.

I have placed my sensor several places while driving. The simplest that protects the sensor from direct rain water, is inside the exterior shower cabinet. Door has enough air flow to keep the read out accurate while moving, even if on the sunny side. Once parked, I bungee the sensor to an undercarriage location away from the sunny side.

I attached mine with a bungee to the framing inside my propane tank area.

We have a wireless clock/thermometer that projects the temp on the bedroom ceiling, as well as a second wireless one on the dash. There is no perfect place on an RV for the outside sensor, which, ideally, would be 4-5' above the ground, over grass, in a radiation shield to keep direct sun off of it.

After a lot of thinking and searching, I mounted the 2 sensors behind the front bumper, right behind the license plate.

I mounted ours in the butane bay. It’s mounted with Velcro to the front wall about 1 ft above the bottom. Since the compartment doesn’t have a floor, it’s exposed to exterior temperatures but shielded from the wind. It’s not a perfect place as we see higher temps when the driver side is in full sun. I need to replace it soon but haven’t figured out a better location.

I placed mine in the electrical bay located on the drivers side in front of the front tire. That side of my coach is protected from the sun when parked in my back yard. I can monitor the temps in my house or in the rig when on the road.

I mounted my outdoor sensor in the propane tank bay since the bottom is open!

Where did you put yours?
Under the passenger side slide out - out of the way - used industrial velcro so it stays - in shade - is as close to a constant temp as it is never in direct sun.

Has been there for almost 15 years and works well for Us.

I should also mention that we have one in the Wet Bay to be sure it never gets too Cold and one in the basement for the same reason - as they are also high low thermometers the lowest temp we have ever recorded on the two is 38 degrees - Light bulbs Work -.

We tried that with our fifth wheel open bottom propane compartment, but discovered the propane bottle heat sink would affect the temp reading during daytime to night time temp. changes. I found the best place for the monitor is zip tied to the black (not copper) propane pipe under the camper but still 2' above the ground surface.

I put the sensor on driver side wall under awning for slide out. Always in shade, even when slide out is not deployed. Has worked well for 10 years. Used Velcro and silicone to attach.

Zip tied to the bottom of the top ladder tread, high up away from ground not in full sun and catches any breeze. Figure that's where I will be outside in the sun and breeze so that's the best spot for us. Works well when on the road too.

That is where I mounted mine, but it only works well there when parked in the campground. On the road or in the Walmart parking lot it reads very high with all the heat radiating off the asphalt.
