I have a 35' Class A and now a Saturn Wagon toad. I have usually camped in Calif. and at KOA's.

Been on many Blogs people have 5th wheels etc & never say what campground or nati'l park, state park they stay in.

i was looking at NPS and got so frustrated on going to area, park, site etc.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there a simple way to find length restrictions?

I know many of you out there are bigger than me.. how do you easily find
places?
I also have Good Sam Trailer Life directory and look but it's by city and
would like to do areas..
Like... Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands,
I also do rvparkreviews ... not too many state or federal parks.

Am interested also in going from Calif to Wash I-5 and go slowly down the coast now that I have my toad.

Please help

I use a combination of things, sometimes this site, sometimes I use Allstays | Campgrounds | RV Parks, they have an app for my phone, sometimes I find a campground and just call and ask. So far, I have found very few state and national parks that I was unable to get my 42' into.

Traveling down US 101 in Oregon you will find many state parks, most all of which can accommodate big rigs. In addition there are many RV parks on that route which also have big rigs sites. The issue at this time of year is finding a site, due to the volume of RV traffic during the summer.

At 35' I can't imagine a problem getting into/out of any park in the USA. We're at only 40' - been from California to Maine and never a problem. If you feel the toad might be a problem, unhook it at the check-in office.

We always email or phone ahead for info at stops or for that matter, potential stops along our intended route. Its been my experience that they normally want to know the size of your rig.

We were nearly 60' in overall length when we had our 40' fifth wheel & one ton extended cab dually. We always called the C/G prior to going and never had a problem. We always found the C/G would be truthful is stating they could accommodate us or not.

I have used the Trailer Life Directory for years. The one thing that I have found though, is that no matter what maximum length that a campground says they'll take, they will always find room for you. Example: Mono Village, a campground near Bridgeport, CA says their maximum length is 26 ft. There are 40' motorhomes in there every year.

Only one place in our travels we did we find a small problem with the combined length of 65ft and in that one they just had us angle a little to fit the RV into it. And with very few reservations there were no problems accommodating us at the drop of hat pulling into the campgrounds.

Those are some of the websites that I have found helpful. Virtually all listings state the size of the site and RV/trailer maximum length.

There is an Allstays free app for smartphones that you can use for areas. All you do is scroll the map and it will show you all types of camping for those areas.

The easiest way for me to find parks is to get the RV GPS it shows Woodall campground information. I can select from near RV, Near City or along route. I am not sure about the along route but I believe it gives that option. Not near the RV right now to find out. They have campgrounds broken up by various categories. All, Woodall rated, State, Federal, maybe a couple more also.
I have a 38 foot Tiffin Allegro Bus and I have only found a couple of state parks that do not have room for me. I pull an SUV but like one poster said I disconnect that at the gate so it is not a problem . I use a RAND Mcnally RV gps unit.

I forgot to mention casinos. The GPS does not sort by them but a lot of casinos have parking spaces the ones I have seen are very cheap and have very nice facilities. Because it is at a casino they have very good security in the area.

Although you are technically not a "Big Rig" I generally like to refer to "Big Rigs Best Bets". This guide is available in both print and online editions and is invaluable if you drive a "Big Rig".

I have nothing to gain or loose by recommending this fine guide.

We had a 40' coach with a toad and traveled the US and Canada with it for 19 years. Been in 49 states with it. About 155,000 miles. We almost never make reservations. Only twice have we encountered campgrounds where the space was to short for us.

We now have a 45' coach and do expect to occasionally have a problem with length, but it's no big deal. Just go down the road to the next campground.
