Where to find your motorhome?

Do you know of anywhere you can enter the motorhomes you're looking for? Where you can enter what you want and be shown a list and will contact you when another comes available. Or a change was made to the price of the motorhome etc. I know RV trader gives some selections but not by specific model numbers. Something like;

2007 to 2014

Newmar
Dutch Star 3736 - 4002 - 4018 - 4041
Ventana 3709 - 4002 - 4037 - 4041 - 4369
Ventana LE 3709 - 4002 - 4037

Tiffin
Pheaton 42LH - 44OH
Zephyr 45DZ

Thanks for your help.

RV Trader gives you all kind of options when you click on "FIND" ! I don't know of any other place that would be better!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Give this site a try. You can subscribe and have it in your inbox weekly. It allows you to search exactly as you indicated by model, make, year etc.

You can use Google as well. Put in the particular model you want to search for (i.e. Dutch Star 3726) and if it is listed on a dealers site, it will be found. RVT.com is another option to RVTrader.com.

I got my Discovery off RV trader that way. You might also look at PPL motor homes. They have a lot of motor homes, but consignment lots scare me off.

Hey montyhp, why do consignment lots scare you? I've not read anything about that.

Looked at two DPs at 2 different consignment lots. Spent $2000 on inspection just to find they had major engine problems, mostly due to non use.

I really recommend you buy from a private individual who uses their coach consistently and has maintenance records

I agree with that Montyhp, I also had no idea it cost a $1,000 bucks to have a motorhome inspected. That ain't cheap, but a question sir. Wouldn't you have an inspection done with a private seller with maintenance records?

Thanks for your help.
eBay offers this kind of search in their MH section.

I ran want to buy ads in Craiglist (RV section) in my state and adjoing states (large cities). That's we found our Newmar 4011 DSDP from the owner. I would never buy from a dealer.

I have not had sucess with any of the internet RV sites buying or selling.

It is kind of a long story but yes, for mobile technicians (the consignment lot won't usually let you take it off the lot) to inspect both the coach and the chassis it is over $900.

On the coach I finally bought the owner supplied me with years worth of maintenance records in the house systems. In addition I went to the shop that did the maintenance and talked to them directly. On the chassis, the owner did not have maintenance records but she said her late husband took it to a local diesel shop but didn't have records.

So I had a chassis inspection and it got a clean bill of health.

$1000 is money well spent IF you get a proper inspection. Which, it sounds like you did. Imagine if you put down a pile of cash and then got stung with a 10+K overhaul tab?

Well, I was a newbie at that point, but after looking at a dozen coaches I started to recognize issues.

Back to the original comment about consignment lots, on one coach the coach inspector said the electrical system is not working properly and it looks like someone has done some non standard wiring. The chassis inspector says there is a lot of blow by, needs immediate ring job. I offered the salesman a copy of the inspection reports to give to the owner, he said "not necessary, I'll knock $10k off the price, someone will buy it."
