where to get a motorhome weighed
I am wondering where to get a motorhome weighed. Can a truck scale weigh 4 wheels independantly or just front , rear and total.

Truck stops have CAT scales, big yellow sign. Drive on, position your rig on the scales properly (they are meant to weigh 18 wheelers). Push the talk button on the post and tell them you are weighing a MH.
I have used Interstate weigh stations that are closed (do not go into an open operating weigh station) sometimes they eave the scale on. If you see a zero on the scale it is on. You can use the scale to weigh. IT is free.
I'm told moving companies can weigh. All four corners for a fee.

Google truck scales in your area and you will probably find several. I go to a wholesale seed and fertilizer dealer that is nearby. $10 for axle weights, $20 to shuffle around and get the four corner weights.

Hi vsheetz,
Where is the wholesale seed dealer you use in SoCal. I am in Western Riverside county and have been searching for some place that will weight the four corners of my MH. I went to the local Cat scale that has a segmented scale for 18 wheelers. The weigh master was being difficult and said he could not weigh my tag axle on a separate segment. The segments were close enough to do it. It wasn't because he was busy, the 45 mins I was there, no one else was waiting to get weighed.
Thank you,
Chuck Boone

Granghetto's in Escondido - the wall with "Public Scale" signage is no longer there, so you can come in from each direction and weigh the corners.

Here in WA the weigh stations along most highways leave their scales on even when closed. Just drive on and read the digital readout overhead. Usually the area is clear and level so you can get all wheels weighed.
DON'T stop if the scale is open!! They don't want you there.

Twice a year, I go to our local Waste Management recycling/waste handling center and have the coach weighed on their calibrated scale.....at no cost. They allow me to weigh the entire coach, front and rear axles and all four corners. And the nice lady inside that reads the scale provides me with the same official scale weight document that she provides all the WM drivers and other WM contract drivers. I find that mid-morning is best since the scale is usually idle around that time. Of course, I always thank her by "forcing" a 5-spot through her window.
You might want to consider this possibility where you live. It works great for us....

Thank you Vince, I'll check it out. Like to find some place closer, but if they will let you do the four corner it would be worth the drive.
HeapBigEngin, I'll give WM a call, they operate the local county land fill. Hopefully, they have another scale I can use, the ones at the land fill are very busy.

WM is a very large company. The scale I use is not at the landfill operation, but rather at the recycle center. Most recycle centers are more centrally located in a metropolitan area than the typical land fill. Good luck.....

I want to weigh my rig and the only local capability is a moving company. When I spoke to them on the phone, I was told they can't do independent axles, that I drive the whole rig on and get one weight. Just to be sure, if the scale will accommodate the entire rig, can't I just pull the front end on for front axle weight and then drive across it and just leave the rear end on the scale for rear axle weight? Thanks in advance.

If they have never done it before, they probably don't understand what your asking them to do. Print out the pages of this tire guide that show how to weight your vehicle and show them want you need. They should be able to do it.
