Where to go for parts and service?

Besides an RV dealer where do you go to service a Class A for the chassis mechanicals? Do you go to a Ford or Chevy truck dealer or something?

Also, assuming I had a lift big enough to do it, where would I buy parts like brakes or shocks or tires so I could DIY the repairs?

I don't own one yet so I haven't a clue, but I'm pretty sure it's not NAPA or Autozone - lol.

Depending on your coach, if will of course vary. My Ford chassis/engine is very common. Parts via NAPA and others. Service is readily available at many Ford Truck Dealers, however I use a local independent service shop for such work.

Another common gas coach configuration is the GM engine / Workhorse chassis. Again parts and service are readily available.

I take my 2000 Hurricane on a Workhorse chassis to a Workhorse/Chevy dealer. Most of the parts are standard parts and NAPA/CARQUEST/... is a good source.

Parts are available not only locally at NAPA, but any good truck parts supply house locally or on line. Yes the parts are bigger, but with proper tools and appropriate jacks, stands, and muscle many jobs can be done in the driveway.

As stated I get mine through NAPA and I have a local mechanic that works on rigs. He also builds race cars. Nice labor rate and only about 2 miles from the house. The only item we had to order was the sending unit for our old 87 Allegro because the previous owner but a 120 tank in it. I refuse to pay over $100 per hour for most work that is nothing more than a 1 ton truck. JMHO

I would avoid most RV dealers for chassis work - few have any real chassis expertise anyway.
