For the last 5 years I ran a fiver and an Allison Duramax p/u.

I tired of the backing in hassle as we winter camp in Florida state parks so I down sized to a 26' C and thoroughly enjoyed our 6 wk, 6300 mi trip, but we could do with a little more room.

What models are out there, diesel powered and NOT over 30' long.

The only requirement that I have is that it is a walk around bed and it would be nice if it was a full 80" queen.

Since we stay in Florida State parks in the winter the 30' length is a MUST because then we can fit in smaller sites as we do not tow a car.

I wish they still made the Trek with diesel power and the 'Magic Bed'

As you might know, the last FRED chassis' made by Freightliner were rolled out in 2010...but less known was the Workhorse W20 FRED (Navistar V8) was made for the Serrano model line - through 2012.

Not a Class A, but there is the Four Winds and Chateau Super C being made new at this time...riding on a Ford F550 w/ Diesel driveline.

Safari Trek's to 28'. GM V8 diesel. Differing in that there is not a bedroom, rather the motorized bed comes down from the ceiling in the living area. Makes for a very roomy smaller coach. Not the configuration for everyone but they have a following.

If really considering a Trek, which as are a unique coach in many ways. Liveability of a larger coach, but in smaller length foot print, makes all the difference for many owners. (Either for where they store it, due to space restraints. Or where they camp style wise due to length restrictions.)

I personally would take the 8.1 gasser over the GM V8 diesel Trek's (or the 4 banger diesel). Lots of power, decent MPG, and much quieter than the diesel for driving.

You very seldom meet a Trek owner that is not happy with the rig. The only downside to our style of usage, is I'm up early in the AM with a cup of coffee and usually watch the sun come up over a fire outside. Then inside for AM surfing until the DW gets up usually between 7:30-8:00AM. The bed in the front living area, would not work well for us.
