My wife loves to drive our 40 footer, but not in city traffic or when we get to the overnight areas. She also knows how to hook and unhook the toad. Most of the time she spells me for a couple of hours at a time and the rest is great -- she's probably a better driver than me! Great peace of mind knowing that she can do it all if she has too!.

My story:

45 years ago, I sewed my ripped blue jeans.
45 years ago, my wife drove us to the grocery.
45 years ago, we made an agreement.

If she never drives, I will never sew.

The end

I love that one.
I also do all the driving. I know she could if she had to, being an old farm girl.

I have been waiting patiently for someone to bravely step up to the plate. Since that has not happened here goes: My wife does all the driving all I do is steer the MH. In the interest of full disclosure I have never had an original thought in my life, saw it posted here or somewhere else.

We don't own one YET - soon though. We discussed driving issues since both of like to drive and have driven C Classes. Looks like I would to most of the driving since I am better with bigger/longer vehicles and in tight places. I drive and dock 69' houseboats, DH drives the motor boat. 30 years later, it works for us. DH can be my navigator.

We have only been out twice since buying our MH, but I do the driving. DH says he is not quite ready for it. Doesn't bother me any. I like driving it.

Our first 'A' I drove most of the time. The DW would drive on long days but only on freeway. With the new 'A' (coachmen Encounter 37TZ) DW would drive in an emergency. Not a problem, as I enjoy driving it but I limit myself to 300 to 400 miles.

This is our first RV I think it intimidates the DW so I do all the driving and she navigates.

We both know what seat is best for both of us. Tallulah is a self proclaimed " Nagravator ". She actually has driven 20' in 92,000 miles. Twice at a gas station , she moved the MH up 10' so I could gas up the toad.

Back in the 80's we were looking at MH's and a dealer in Alabama talked us into driving a new Winnebago class A that had just arrived from the factory.

I drove it up I85 for 2 or 3 exit's and turned it over to the DW. The dealer and I were setting at the dinette as she headed back down I85, when all of a sudden BANG BANG. Both rear view truck type mirrors had folded back against the sides. The dealer was not impressed, re-iterated it had just arrived from the factory. When we were alone DW owned up to "somewhere around 80".

My wife does not drive the MH she hates driving my 3/4 ton pickup and it is automatic.

Good sams club has a service that you pay a yearly rate for. It is suprisingly inexpensive. If you have a medical problem with the primary driver of the MH they will send someone to drive your MH home for you. We have not signed up yet but that is because we are restricted from going anywhere until I get my new knee this fall. No need to sign up if we dont need it. As soon as we go anywhere again I will sign up for it.

If you would ride with my DW in her Rav4 you would know why I do all the RV driving.
