Which preowned DP's have a side radiator?

I keep hearing the positives of having a side radiator, with the fact it's easier to work on the engine...mainly checking belts etc. I haven't a clue as to which brands/models/size MH's come with side radiators on preowned units?
Perhaps someone may have a link to the postives/negatives on this topic as well?

Thanks.

The short answer is that almost all MH manufactures will make a model with a side radiator. However, it is the diesel pushers that will have this feature.

Find the manufacturer whose motorhomes you like, and look at their models.

Best of luck with your search.

Most higher end coaches have side radiators. I have a side radiator and love it. Yes when it comes to changing the serpentine belt, it takes about 2 min plus you are able to see everything.

Newmar uses side radiators on their Dutch Star line since at least 2000. We had a 2000 on FL and a 2002 on Spartan chassis and both were side radiators. Newmar doesn't even consider a Dutch Star to be a "Luxury" model in their lineup but they still have side radiators.
Also, a side radiator may or may not give you better engine access. Here's a picture of ours, the radiator tank takes up the whole drivers side. But the belts and filters are easy to get to.

Most times its the top line models from the manufactures that have the side rad , because of the extra cost and complexity of the rad fan and control.
All side rads I've seen have been on the drivers side behind the rear wheel , so if your looking at pictures or a unit in person, first look for the air flow opening.

My 2002 Monaco Windsor has a side radiator!

That makes it much easier to service the engine!

The one in my signature/avatar does! It was a "must" (for me) when I was shopping for DP.

Our 2000 Country Coach has a side radiator. I loved it when I changed my alternator last year.

My Kountry Star has a side radiator and hardly "top of the line" model. It's really the chassis options associated with the engine size that are ordered by the manufacturer for that particular year. A KSDP of the same vintage with the smaller engine has a rear radiator.

See anything negative about this? Now picture all this being covered by a radiator...

With that said, I wouldn't rule out a coach with a rear radiator if it had everything else you wanted.

2001 Newmar Dutch Star, Cat on a Freightliner chassis. Took me 20 minutes to replace serpentine and v-belts, as well as look over the engine, and only took that long because I had to walk to the shop to get tools! Friends Winnebago cost him over $600.00 for a shop to do it, they had to drain and remove the transmission cooler and the radiator to get to the belts . . . Your choice!

Yes, I know, a side radiator has it's drawbacks too, just haven't personally experienced any of them myself . . .
