Assuming that the grey water tank shows 1/3 after your test, then add three buckets of water to the toilet. Check the level and it will either show FULL or will continue to show 2/3.

If it continues to show 2/3, then do the black water tank cleanout drill in hopes of cleansing the sensor.

Because it's more fun to experiment!!

My first idea was tank #1 was for #1, and tank #2 was for #2, but then I remembered RV's aren't equipped with urinals.

Put food coloring down the drain. When you empty the tanks, the colored effluent is the Grey tank.

Next time you dump , do one at a time checking for indicator change. Then label the panel.

Most reader gauges have a small rubber cap over an adjustment screw. Empty the tank and pop the rubber cap off and zero the reading and see how it goes as you use it over time. The gauge should go back to zero when moved. This is what I have seen in my past Motorhomes....Just FYI...

That will have to wait until I get home. Tank is behind a compartment inner cover.

I am not concerned as to which tank in relation to the dumping. The valves are labeled.

Tried that on other issues, they say they have no information on units older than 5 years. This is a1998.

For those who say "Why go through all that trouble"

On my rig, at least one of the tanks it is easier to hook up the jumper between the top and bottom sensor probes (As described above) than to dial the phone..

But then I have the jumpers in stock and the top and bottom sensors are NOT hidden.

Not guaranteed, but very likely to be the black one.

Your black tank will most likely have a larger pipe connecting to the shut off valve. It will usually be the tank that is showing 3/4 full. Some people place ice cubes in them and fill partially with water and hope the movement of the cubes will clean the tank sensors as you drive down the road.
