Which tank is which?

The indicator panel that shows the levels in the tanks is labeled tank 1 and tank 2. Not grey and black.. Anyone know which is which?

Run your kitchen sink for a while then check which tank has filled some.

You could take suggestions or guesses but best way to do it is open one tank at a time and see what one shows empty. Check contents to detect witch tank has the lumps in it!

Do your tanks have internal or external sensors? if internal then sensors are probably plugged/contaminated(common simpton) if external then could be poor connection on sensor strips ,or monitor gauge needs to be recalibrated

OK based on past experiences and a lot of posts the one that is showing 3/4 when both are empty is the black water tank. Usually grey tanks do not have near the problem with sensors that the black water tank has.

Another possibility is that you have two grey water tanks do you show just tank 1 and tank 2 nothing else.

Which valve goed to witch tank.

My Black water tank in my M.H. has shown 2/3 full right after I have dumped them both for years.
It would be a good idea to put a strip of black tape over the handle of the black valve and a strip of white or tan tape over the gray water tank handle.
If you can attach your hose to the out let and just open it a hair to see and smell what kind of water comes out of what tank.
Just a thought.
P.S. You might want to wait until you go camping to fine out.
Just a thought

This one is overkill since you only have two waste tanks but

Garnet 709-4LP Seelevel II Tank Monitoring System

IS the path to a solution, I will assume what you need is a 709-3lp or on a trailer just 709-3

Nope assume never works, try this one
http://www.rvupgradestore.com/Garnet...-II-p/711t.htm

This one will work

Now how to figure out which which is which

On the tanks you will find 4 or 5 screws with wires attached... All but one of the screws the wires run off to the same place, the 4th (Bottom) one runs off elsewhere.

Using a test lead clip to the top and bottom screws.. now one tank should read FULL, that is the tank you clipped.. And now you can re-label them.

The dump valves are not a problem, they are labeled. The problem is the control panel shows tank 1 2/3 full even though both tanks are empty.

remove the wire from the sensor on the black tank and see which column is effected on your readout. it will be either 1 or 2 assuming the senders are easly accessable. If not remove the read out panel(4 screws) and do it from that end

Why go to all that trouble when you can just call the manufacturer and ask them the question?

I think my way makes more sense and will take very little effort. I can just imagine how long it would take to phone thor and be able to start talking to someone that knows which tank is which for sure on a 18 year old motorhome

Pour three buckets of water (4 gallons/bucket) into the shower or sink.

Either the empty tank will show 1/3, or the 2/3 tank will show full.

You'll have your answer
