which type of rv

Hello all,
With all your help we now know to buy, register and insure a RV when you reside in the UK but what type. We plan to tour for 6 months or longer then returning to the UK around May/June when it has warmed up over here, we would put the RV into storage for the 5 or 6 months when back in the UK. We like to drive about 5 to 600 mile then park up for 3 to 4 weeks, now the question is which is best 5er or class a given that 5ver would be diesel and class a gas, any help would be most appreciated.

A little bit depends on where you plan to start your North American adventure. Florida ? Texas ? Arizona ?. Ease of finding suitable storage could come into play, if you plan to store back where you start. Personally having had a 5th and now a Class A ; the A in my humble opinion , would be much easier for a new owner to drive and park. 4 , 5ers and I never got really good at parking , at least according to my wife.
If you go class A will you be towing a car ? or renting at your longer stops ?

Thanks for reply towing a 5er not a problem been driving semi for 30 years (artic over here) we would buy toad for class a is it better to just try and start 1 after 6 month storage or 2 with a class and toad. I suppose f350 used as runaround whilst on site would probably make more sense at least vehicle would not be parked up all the time but how easy is it to start 5 litre after been stored for 5 month.

Hi vale46fan,
Welcome to iRV2. My Cummins starts on two tries after being parked for 6 months. Where you plan to store the coach is of great importance. In the north eastern USA storage is difficult to find and expensive. Many parts of the west coach of the USA are the same. Based on the information in the OP, consider a class A coach. For me it is much better to travel where the amenities are located.

Go to rv.org and pay what they are asking it's well worth it. It will be the best money you spend on your rv. Remember everyone has an opinion but few hard answers.
Good Luck
