I AM CONSIDERING BUYING A 2008 CHARLESTON OR BERKSHIRE IN 36' OR 39' LENGTH.(40' WON'T FIT IN THE GARAGE).
I AM CURIOUS ABOUT:
(1) OVERALL QUALITY OF CONSTRUCTION.
(2) INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR STORAGE SPACE.
(3) PERFORMANCE AND MILEAGE OF THE CUMMINS 6.7 340HP ENGINE WITH 5 SPEED ALLISON.
(4) PERFORMANCE AND MILEAGE OF THE MERCEDES 330 HP WITH ALLISON 5 OR 6 SPEED.
(5)GENERAL SATISFACTION WITH THE FOREST RIVER PRODUCT.

Beware that a "39'" rig could be 39' 11" ...and even if it is only 39' it likely has a ladder on the back that might make it "too long" for your garage! If your garage is that tight, be sure to measure a 39' rig before deciding it will fit.

I think the 6 speed allison is important for the fuel milage.....5 speed??...the 2012 comes with a 6 speed...they say u may ge as much as 12mpg...go to the berkshire site....great video's on the construction....steel basement.....check out.....jim
