who has a sleep number bed

hi we bought a sleep number bed. have not picked it up yet. but have a few
things to ask. do we need to cover or pad our bed base [ plywood ] or
the hinges. to protect the sleep number bed ? did you mount the pump
under the bed ? what about mattress covers ? i see sleep number ones
on line are they special ? any tips or imfo you could pass along would be great i cant find a owners manual on line thanks john

No manual. I just opened the canopy from the bed. The pump goes under, plug it in, route lines to mattress through notches that are already cut in the base. You will have instructions on the actual bed (I hope) ie: foam dividers etc. If you have a problem call me. Mike Pemberton 510-501-6299

No base cover needed, nor a special mattress cover. Assembly instructions and manual will be in the box with the mattress. Pretty easy to install, as long as you have AC power available under the bed...

since the others have already answered your questions I'll just say that I think you will love your new bed! It's takes some playing with the numbers to determine the right setting for you. We use a full-size heated mattress pad on the bed in the RV and also at home.

will ask about a manual. this bed is coming out of a moterhome as the owners want a king size sleep number bed and there having the bedroom
re made to fit the king size and i was offered the queen size at a great price . it was one of those things of being at the right place at the right
time i guess. as we where out for a day ride and stoped at a rv shop. but do not known anything about sleep number beds yet. so any imfo or tips
you can pass along would be helpfull thanks

We did not have AC power at the foot of the bed but did at the head. We reversed the bed. The "foot" with the pump, is now at the head. Pump is on the nightstand. No problems in 6 years now. We love it.

I think you had it installed backwards in the first place. Sleep Number beds are designed for the pump hoses to enter the mattress at the head, because most people have power at the head of the bed, but not at the foot.

Anything is possible. Our manual shows the pump at under the pedestal of the bed. In our case that location is an outside storage bin.

I just wanted to point out that you do not absolutely need power under the bed, as the OP asked. There are other alternatives that will work.

Generally, the pump goes under the bed and the hoses go up to the head of the bed through holes drilled in the platform. Lay out the mattress first and see where the hoses go into the mattress before you drill the holes (if you need to).

We have a Sleep Number in the house and I love it! I have a miserable back and it has been a real life saver. Our MH has a really nice Serta that we will wear out, but when the time comes, it will be replaced with a Sleep Number.

If you have remote controls, they hook to the pump (unless wireless of course) so you really want the pump to the head of the bed.

Don't forget to let the air out of the mattress when you travel.

If you have it pumped up even to 30 or 40 and go up much in elevation the pressure goes through the roof.

That's the one thing I don't like about ours.

We use a mattress pad we had for our truck camper bed.

I like the bed but my wife doesn't.

You will love your new mattress. Yes, you do need to reduce the pressure if you will be traveling to high elevations. Ours went up to 100 because I forgot to drop it before we left. Also, when adjusting the pressure, you must be laying on the bed to do so....not just standing next to it. Have happy dreams.
