That's what we've done for 11 years now, even replacing tires, a refer cooling unit, batteries and TV's we still come out ahead.

Since my MH is new to me... And not new... I am concerned about the potential unknowns at this point. Even though I had a pre-purchase inspector go through it for a few hours, I think having some "insurance" would make me feel better about going down the road and not having to dig deep!

I didn't know I could have negotiated the price and bought a $4500, 4 year Phx American policy from the stealer in June. My motor blew up in Oct due to a weak fuel pump and there were other items on the claim. Total was >$10K. Worked for me.

Dunner, can you tell me what happened here? I read your post and I am really wondering how a weak (low pressure) fuel pump could ruin a engine?

Both banks ran lean and it broke about 1" off the top of the #5 piston. It set a lean code on both banks, but I was able to clear them and they never came back.

When I started it for the trip home, it blew blue/white smoke, but cleaned out. Never set any codes for the dead cylinder. When I got home and pulled the dead cylinder plug, it was oil soaked. Don't know what the computer looks at when a plug doesn't fire.

"Ford, a better idea".

I'm thinking this thread may have turned argumentative.
My primary reason for choosing GS for our extended warranty was based on things I've read here and other RV boards. GS may not be the best price but I think they may be far ahead in customer service. Just an opinion garnered from other people's experience.
Two major repairs and I'm still ahead. All insurance is nothing more than a bet between you and the insurance company. They are betting you will not use it, you are betting you will.

I have a Cornerstone policy from General RV. I have a neighbor that brokers these policies to auto dealers around the state. He looked over the Cornerstone policy for me (btw he does not sell cornerstone) and came back with a positive review. It is an "exclusionary" policy, meaning if an item is not specifically excluded it is covered.

The price for these policies is always negotiable! These are a profit center for dealers and have a high mark-up. In our case we were purchasing our current rig and they added the coverage to our deal. That made the final price much more palatable.

I spoke with Wholesale Warranties today at length. I was told they quoted Protrek (through Southwest) because the cost for an Xtra ride policy went up significantly in January. I then asked about consequential damage coverage and Protrek doesn't offer it. Also with this policy, all routine maintenance has to be done by a facility and not by the owner. Didn't care for that condition. Needless to say, WW is putting together a new quote for me through another company where I can do my own maintenance and I have consequential coverage... More to come.

Check out Phoenix American Warranty Company. I don't speak legalize, but they paid all but my $100 deductible. I think the one I have is the Emerald coverage.

Thats one change out of the burned up system for an hwh electrical system. How do I know? The circuit board alone is $900. Cracked exhaust manifold How about leaking fuel tank
All covered by extended warranty or insurance or whatever you want to call
it. There was more but I'm a believer and we used more bucks than we put in. This was all on an 04 winn adventurer.
To the op ; you have got to shop around and demand consequential coverage. WW will bargain even on mileage and length of coverage. Get estimates and pit them against each other ; it works!!!!

I wish I had known that. I was actually surprised when they offered it. Didn't expect it.

Another thing about my Phx American policy. For AZ and only AZ, the clause that says: "Existing Conditions", does not apply. Not that I needed it, but good to know. Don't know how AZ got away with it. Sounds like you could buy a broken MH and have it fixed with the new policy.
