Like some others have said here, it's all about personal preferences and priorities. Everyone should follow their own of each. What is "right" for one will not work for all. IMHO if it doesn't have enough power to scare me, it doesn't have enough power. My DP has a C-9 Cat with 400 HP. I would love to have 600HP, and maybe in my next one I will. If I could have a MH that would accelerate and handle like my Corvette I would really love that. To each his own.

There is a name for this phenomenon, and whole books have been written on the subject!

All one really needs to know as a layperson is that it's a compulsion almost exclusively limited to those born with the "Y" chromosome. In most cases those so afflicted are powerless to control the "bigger is better" urge...

If the RV has an engine...We want the engine to run at its peak performance.
If the RV has a TV...We want the BIGGEST TV that will fit, so you can sit back and watch Extreme RV's on Travel Channel or whatever at the optimum resolution

Nobody ever did an engine swap to a smaller engine and nobody ever swaped the TV for a smaller screen...it just un-American

The "Y" may be a major driving force behind a large portion of our economy.

Some of you want more power. I understand! I know Y.
Hey, I was a motorhead ala extreme, pre-fatherhood. You name it, I did it. Built some Fords and Chevys that would rock your world in the mid 60s. But I didnt know Y.

Camping has been the best part of living for me and my family. From the pup tent of the 50's to MH of today, nothing has been more fulfilling for us.

I appreciate all of the posts on this thread. I lurked until I felt it was at a "nuff said" state.

The fact that everyone on this forum is "driven" to a goal is admirable and a necessity to the forum. It could a drive for power, comfort, ride quality, or any other facet of the forum. It is an amazing collection of people that, together, makes RVing easier and more enjoyable for everyone!

I have an 08 Cummins 400 ISL. 400 hp pushing 33000 lbs and pulling 4K lbs. It was a bit anemic off the line so I added two tweaks for less than $1500.

My rv has a rear radiator so the first change was the Fan. I had the fixed pitch model. The new one is fixed pitch as well but has much less drag and the noise level dropped by 5 db. The acceleration improvement was noticeable and measurable . You can do a search on my results using YC1 in the search area.

The second mod was adding a Digi CR module that installs on the fuel rail wiring harness. That took about 30 minutes to install once I found the harness connection. I have pictures of that if you do a search. The improvement is documented on that as well.

I estimate my hp is now very close to 500. The acceleration improvement is dramatic. Fuel mileage has improved 1-1.5 mpg.

Crossed the top of the Grapevine in Kalifornia this AM at 48 mph. Not bad because I was not holding up traffic.
