Will a sleepnumber bed blow up?
Went over 6000' and one side of bed is totally deflated. Had it set on 100. Can they blow up from over inflation from altitude?
It won't inflate now.
thanks

First I would check the hose connection to the bladder. There is a slight chance it popped loose from the pressure. More than likely it is the bladder that has sprung a leak.

We went into the Smokeys once and bother air cells were hard as a rock bud didn't cause any damage.

Never thought of that! Something else to watch out for.

Guessing you didn't read the Owners Instructions that came with it.

I've seen on another thread that they will indeed over inflate at high altitude and damage the air chamber(s). I'm afraid that's what has happened to yours.

I saw that too, just a few days ago! I think he said his air chamber blew out at high altitude, costing him about $500 for a new one!

One of my checklist items is to deflate the mattress.

I should have mentioned we deflate ours completely before we depart for any mountains. Seems to have cured the issue.

Same here. I found out the 'hard' way. Luckily it didn't blow.

Anything sealed at low elevations and transported to higher ones can leak or blow up. We live at about 200' elevation and went to Yellowstone. On the way in from the north we heard a loud explosion, immediately pulled over. Tires were fine, but found that one bag of potato chips had exploded, the other was about to and friends traveling with us found bottles of soap and other liquids had leaked.

We had a similar issue with propane tanks. We filled them in Texas and when we stopped for gas in Colorado I heard the vent releasing propane. I disconnected the tank and took it out into a large field to finish venting.
