Window Decor

Wife was talking about the hard to pull string shades so I have been looking into replacement - She said let take down the window valances and install regular curtins on curtin rods. Has anybody tried this ??? The dark colors on the valances remind me of a funeral home. Wondering about all the holes from the mounts too.

You can easily take the valances off and recover them. Either do it yourself (fabric and stapler) or send it to an upholsterer. We're redoing the head board and the valances in the bedroom this spring with beige colored vinyl. Put them back up with regular roll up shades or go over the top with motorized cellular shades.

We removed the day/nite shade & balances. Replace with pull dn shades from lowes.. We ended up replacing all with the thin style blinds. everyone compliments on how nice they look. And the bulk of the old shades seems like it opens, lightens the coach. Look at many of the hi end mh and they use blinds to. ed

I decided to dump the valances as they made the place crowded. The pleated shades were horrible. Had household wood blinds installed, looks great. I used Spackle to fill the holes.

I liked the color of the valances in my 05 Diplomat, but hated the Day/Night shades. I replaced them with MCD's. They are very easy in a Diplomat, because the valances are so deep. If I didn't like my valance colors, I would recover them. Everyone's tastes are different, but I would be afraid that removing the valances and replacing them with curtains would make a newer coach look dated.
