Windshield mount for timelapses...

We have been using an iPhone mounted to the windshield of the MH to take time lapses of our drives and it's kinda cool, but the windshield mount we are using has the phone relatively far from the windshield and on a long arm that shakes quite a bit when we drive (the worse the roads, the crazier the shake).

Does anyone know of a windshield mount that would keep the phone really close to the glass and on a super tight grip that would reduce shaking? All this while still allowing some adjustments to frame the timelapse better.

Thanks!

Why use an Iphone for your time lapses? A $60 dash cam like the Black Box G1W-B will take either continuous high definition video or time lapse stills. It comes with a strong, short arm suction cup mount and all connecting wiring. I've used one for two years in my motor home, Jeep and truck.

I'll take a look at that dash cam. I'm using an iPhone for now just because I have one handy when we drive and I really like the quality of the photos that come out of the device. Another aspect is I take a ton of stills as we go along and compile them into a timelapse at the end; I still have the original photos for every frame along with proper timestamping and GPS information for each. When I looked at dash cams before they wouldn't give me that level of flexibility (but i haven't looked in some time).

I also think a good dash cam is your best solution. I bought 2 of these and have been very happy with the results. Their software for the laptop that allows the viewing with gps/speed/map is very good.

When I upgraded my Go-Pro Hero 3 to the 5. I mounted the 3 as my dash cam. It has been great so far. It sits about 1 inch from the windshield. You can get a Go-Pro 3 on ebay for about $90. I have a 32gb card and it will store about a bazillion pics.
