This is state specific. Some states require insurers to cover glass for free; others not. Within a state, policies may vary too of course; hence the shop around suggestions. Also, while replacing the windshield hopefully is a rare occurance, fixing chips is not. That costs under $100 but you may need it multiple times a year. With a deductible that is going to basically be on you.

Windshield repair cost

One piece on our Solei was $2,650 installed by Custom Glass in Salt Lake. $0 cost to us through State Farm.

Also in FL...I called the insurance and they arranged with the company to come out and replace the 1-pc glass. Two guys and a scaffold. They broke the top right corner (opposite of the old window-top left) so they left it and came back a week later. I moved the coach to a concrete pad (i.e. level) and they glued it in place. Still waiting to see if removing the flex within the seal will break the new one.
