Engine needs to turn over fast enough to start. Diesel engines require fuel and compression to run.

Fuel delivery system problem? This could be electrical or mechanical.

What engine do you have?

Thx for your reply. Have 5.9 Cummins 300 HP Torque 600 lbs. Wonder if power not getting to ECM but cannot find the fuse.

I have a 2003 with a 300 HP Cummins 5.9 and am dealing with a stopped up filter.

Inside the frame rail between the tank and lift pump is a Racor inline fuel strainer. Mine was stopped up with rust and other debris.

I replaced the inline fuel strainer and the Fuel filter/water separator and the engine runs just fine.

I am now circulating the fuel through a filter/water separator via an external pump in the attempt to clean more debris from the tank.

When I complete that task today, I am going to move the Racor inline fuel strainer to a location that will be easier to change. I am also adding a shut off valve so I can perform these maintenance items without taking a bath in #2 diesel.

Open the water drain on your filter/water separator and see if you are getting fuel.
