winnebago defects

The repairs have been made at 4 different dealers--two in Texas, two in Calif as well as a 5 day visit to the factory for work.

You must have gotten the one someone wrote about on one of the forums where new unit was so flawed purchaser refused delivery after dealer and factory would not fix all the faults. Can't find the link. Hope it all gets fixed.

BINGO. And many times it's the way the component is installed by the RV manufacturer that causes the problem.

We have had no issues with our dealer or Winnebago. Have had several things repaired or replaced and not one arguement or hesitation on their part.

To the OP--sorry you are having so many problems and I hope all will be resolved to your satisfaction. Unfortunately these horror stories seem fairly common and are distributed across all the RV manufacturers, not just Winnebago.

Seems to be the luck of the draw no matter which brand a person chooses. I don't know when we will ever see more quality focus from the RV manufacturers, but as long as we all keep buying they have no incentive to do things any better.

Despite Winnebagos claim to expedite parts for coach down scenarios, they will not take a part off the line to help you. Total down time in the first 12 months of ownership is almost 90 days with over 40 system failures. Pretty much everything but the engine and trans has failed---some things 2 and 3 times. Same prob. Noted snapping, pops on opening, closing. THEN, noted after trip, slide was cocked. Opened 4-6 inches, reclosed. Vibrated to a cocked position again. Brainstorm: went to Lowes bot 2 IRWIN Quick Grip Bar Clamps, one about 34", the other 48", turned the shoes around to make it a spreader. Upon closing the slide, I put the short one behind passenger seat at floor level, and the longer one aft of the sink. Turn the pads opposite so they sit on the wall. I am careful not to overtighten, just snug it a little. This prevents cocking. I watch the teeth to make sure they are not wearing. Listen to it each time to make sure quiet without popping, snapping. When it is fully extended outside, I bring it in 3 - 4 inches, then put back out and then bring it in for the trip.

IMO this is one really unhappy person who seems to expect Marathon standards on a WGO.

I read his blog and found a glaring error. He states that the front axle is rated at 14,600. Our coach came with a MANDATORY upgrade of the front axle to 15,660. Our spec sheet from WGO shows the upgrade is mandatory on both the GD and QD. So WGO was aware and had taken corrective action on the issue prior to his purchase.

This may have been an oversight on his part but I believe that WGO would have had that as mandatory on the coach he purchased as it is newer than ours.
