Winterizing
Does anyone just leave the aqua hot running and the thermostat on heat instead of winterizing ? It rarely gets below 10 degrees here and usually upper teens for a few days is all. I will be plugged in to power and do go camping throughout the season on and off. I always just ran electric heaters in my fifth wheel unless it was going to be 25 degrees or less then winterized.

Let's not hurry this Winter stuff! --- --- ---
Think about it a bit....... how do you think all the Full timers do in the Cold - turn the Heat on and just be sure to check it if you are not in it, and it is COLD - also do not run out of fuel.

I don't have Aquahot, but I set my furnaces on 55 degrees and put a 60 watt light in the wet bay. That kept everything just fine down to 16 degrees winter before last. From what I understand about the AH, you would probably have to run it on diesel as electric only may not keep up with the heat.

I would leave a backup heat source in the Aquahot bay on a separate plug
Freezing the Aquahot is several thousand dollars in repairs

I have very reliable power. Therefore I put a couple of 60 watt old style bulbs every place that should not freeze, including the AH.

Why??? It's an antifreeze solution that circulates through the system. I'm pretty sure dealers in the north do not keep all of their DP's w/aqua hot systems warm.

The Aquahot (and my HydroHot) also heat the shower / sink water. That's the circuit that needs to be winterized as it's fresh water.
The room heating circuit is an antifreeze closed system.
The dealers in the North winterize the unit if it's not heated.

Winterizing
This is a post showing the inside domestic water loop. It is many coils which is almost impossible to blow out with air. Leave water in one loop and it freezes may not turn out well.

In reference to the OP, I have turned on the Aqua-Hot system to keep the system from freezing when we have extended the season into late November. The electric heater will keep up for a while but at some point the diesel burner needs to be turned on. This keeps the wet bay ~40-45° depending on where the thermostat is set in the wet bay.

I think the OP should take a good look at how an Aquahot works

I am considering a new DP with Aqua Hot. I live further north and it easily gets Zero and below. I contacted AH asking about running it all winter. They said 'go for it' but to make sure you leave the diesel on with electric back up. Might require service more often and definitely monthly inspection.
I wouldn't expect any problems with your situation.
Enjoy - Richard

I have done exactly that when traveling and staying in cold weather with no issues with heat
The next year the Aquahot failed to light, luckily on a warmer night, due to the ignitor coil failure
If you're storing and not staying then you should have a temperature alarm should the Aquahot not fire
Many things can create a fault

I feel SO inadequate to be on here! Just starting to figure out a few things and now the season changes are throwing me a curve ball. My husband wanted me to research "Winterization" for our 2019 Sportscoach Diesel Pusher. We live in East Tennessee and have it in our driveway plugged in to 50 Amp. We plan to continue to take short, (maybe slightly longer than 2 weeks) trips throughout the winter. I am in and out of the coach daily as I use it for a classroom to homeschool our son. Do we need to take any cold weather precautions with the use conditions I've outlined?
