Wired engine battery in reverse

On an 81 Brave, hooked the motor and batt reverse polarity.
I don't know where to locate the fusable link, if that's what fried.
Anyway to bypass the ignition as well?

Check the fuse boxes for a large 50 or 100 amp fuse. Wally world hooked up a replacement battery backwards and blew the main 100 amp fuse. My wife was on a trip when it happened and had to take it to a mechanic since Wally world couldn't figure it out (they paid the mechanic). The car would start and run but nothing else worked.

What engine is in the brave? If chevy it probably got the hei distributor module. If Chrysler or ford it probably fried the ignition "brain box". In any case all these are cheap fix. Just stick a spark plug in a plug wire and ground it to engine then crank it over to see if it's firing. If not this will probably cure it.

Also need to check the voltage regulator (which is inside the alternator). Yes, HEI is used for 1981, actually came out approx 1973.

The only thing working is the horn? If so the main power wire must be burned up.

It sounds like the fusible link, wire designed to be toast when you do what you did, cheap repair hard to get to maybe. It's the SMALL wire that goes from the starter solenoid toward the positive(red) battery terminal. It could be in a plastic wire loom. You should be able to see or feel the burnt insulation.
