Wix Fuel/Water Seperator Filter Failure

Anyone had problems with these filters failing? It's the spin-on type with a threaded plastic plug in the bottom. I drove about 100 miles after a service with a new Wix filter installed and the metal weld around the threaded plug insert failed, causing a flow of diesel all over my motor and starter. It looked just like a shower head spraying almost 360 degrees! I replaced with a new one and made it home but now wonder how often a faliure like this happens.

Anyone had a similar failure? Any chance it could have been caused by an over-pressure situation in the fuel system?? Jack

Happy you are OK it could have got really hot very fast glad that did not happen. even in my yrs of OTR driver I never seen one come off unless it was hit, might been weak from the factory and when filter was tighten just enough to crack it then the vibration did the rest.
