By wood floor I take it you mean laminate. Laminate is thinner than real wood flooring and can be used under slide outs whereas wood flooring, being thicker would not. I used laminate in our coach and had mixed results. It was scratched when the slide out was moved in after installation. The reason for this was our slide out uses skids as it moves in over the floor. If your slide out has rollers you would have better luck than we did. We use an area rug to cover the scratches but, we would have had an area rug anyway. Laminate comes in several thicknesses, we used 8MM. You do not staple or glue it down, follow the manufacturers installation recomendations. Laminate is free floating and is held in place by the mouldings.

Have a factory installed oak parquet floor in the kitchen area. My MH is 21 years old and the floor still looks great.

If your motorhome came with a wood floor, then it was built for it and the slide out wouldn't have a problem. If your motorhome started out with carpet or linoleum, I doubt a wood floor would work.
