I know -- it almost makes me feel better about California!! We still think that when we grow up and retire, we are NOT remaining in California!

Paid $72.40 for my 2011 tag renewel here in North Florida, but had to pay 6% sale tax of $5,842 dollars when I registered it ! Wish I had known about the Oregon deal, I could have flyed back and forth for a lot less! Oh well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To paraphrase a saying from one of the amateur radio forums I frequent:

"If you have to worry about the ad valorem/registration/assessment fees, you can't afford the motorhome!"

But the state made a bunch on the sales tax on the new DSDP. Right now our 2002 DSDP is about $130 as they added a weight tax back on that bypassed the referendum mandates.
Forgot: we also have about a 9.9% sales/use tax on the difference between the old/new rig if traded or the new price. Don't bother to fake a receipt, they don't go by that. They have contracted with an outside outfit that "values" the unit. Naturally it's higher than blue book. Also, there' no exemption now for if you bring in a rig even if you move here from another state unless you paid sales/use tax there AND can prove it.

Year before last the taxs were $250.00. Last year no tax as they were switching to a new excise tax on RV's. This year $958.00. Good old Mitch knows how to balance the budget in Indiana.

We live Deschutes Co (Bend,Oregon) purchased 2011 Allegro in February transferred our Oregon Trail plates from our Monaco Dynasty to new one, entire cost was $351.00 but for two years. Seemed reasonable to me.
We also purchased our coach in Nevada and because we are Oregon residents did not have to pay any sales tax....that works!
