Xantrex Freedom 458

I have a Freedom 458 Inverter/Charger with the basic Freedom Remote. I can't seem to shut it off so it doesn't produce 120v and as a result discharge my batteries. If I press "Inverter off" it will shut off but next time I check in a few days it is back on and the batteries are down. Of course it is not plugged in to shore power.

Clean the data cable ends and connectors of remote and inverter. Turn the house battery disconnect off as though you are storing it with a fully charged bank. After a week, check the condition of the battery bank. Turn the disconnect switch back on and check operation of the inverter. Let us know what yo find.

On my old rig, the Freedom 25 manual says

"When the remote is used, the power switch on the unit should be left OFF"

So, check your manual. If it says the same thing, turn the power switch on the inverter itself off. That might allow your remote to be the sole controller.
