Ours took out the microwave and a coffee maker neither were on, but were plugged in? now the inverter wont charge chassis battery's from shore line nor generator. there is a remote control panel and a transfer switch involved. if so what did it take to fix???

You're not going to like my answer. Ours stopped charging the batteries (no spiked circuits though) and it had to be replaced. Our coach (used) was with-in the 30 day guarantee window so the dealer ate that cost.

There is a 1/4 amp fuse inside the inverter and that is more than likely blown. Just had the same problem. good luck.

It is probably not passing the current through to the microwave and other circuits. Check and replace fuses needed and then retest for proper operation. Disconnect all power and carefully remove inverter cover to access fuses on the front circuit boards. Keep us posted as to results.

Those older 458 inverter/chargers are simple and easy to repair
Repaired several of them over the years.
The linked video shows Jerry the RV guy has ZERO clue as to how they function
Depending on the version of 458 the AUX port jumper (under the flap) will enable or disable the remote panel
The biggest issue with the 458 series is the fact they are MSW inverters, old low frequency technology and extremely heavy but reliable none the less

They are easily repairable and do not cost $400 to $500 to repair

Thanks for the quick reply. So, you want me to connect the Freedom Remote with a jumper under the flap. Ok.

Added a jumper but the remote still dose not work. The inverter works just fine as installed so I will leave it alone, I just like to see what the state of the batteries are in and the chaging rate. Thanks
