XDP Diesel Power Plus (as biocide) - WHERE TO BUY???

With all the recent discussions on biocide use in diesel fuel (especially during storage) there is a lot of confusion. Some (many) of the additives recommended are NOT biocides. The only two I can identify that ARE biocides are "Racor Diesel Biocide", and "XDP Diesel Power Plus". Of these, the XDP seems to get the best reviews.

HOWEVER I CAN NOT FIND WERE TO BUY THE XDP PRODUCT EXCEPT ON LINE.

For those that HAVE bought the XDP product, where am I most likely to be able to buy it??? (truck stop, auto store, etc???). I called one relatively local truck stop, and they do not have it. I plan to fill the tank with winter blend tomorrow, so need help / advice asap.

Thanks, as always!

After reading the forum on biofilm buildup I decided to use a biocide myself. Easy preventive insurance by using. I went with Power Service 09016-09 Bio Kleen Diesel Fuel Biocide. $26 on amazon. I think i've seen it at a truck stop before. Not sure which product is best, or if it does anything. Cheap enough. I cant imagine one more effective then another.

I buy my biocide at West Marine. I can't remember the brand name, but I've used it for over 8 years with no problems. I only use it when I expect the coach will be sitting for more than a month.

I know that they have a store in Bloomington.

I did finally pin down that the XDP product is only available by direct order from the manufacturer. It does, however, seem to get really good reviews - so I ordered a bottle. One bottle treats 500 gallons - so seems like pretty cheap insurance. Too bad on the shipping time though: tomorrow is going to be in the 60's here , after that it is into the deep-freeze, probably for the duration . I guess I will be filling my tank with winter mix (and diluting the addititve) with cold fingers .

Thanks everyone for your input!

The West Marine price is substantially less than Amazon's.

As a boater I must say I'm suprised , West Marine Helped keep my water toy sailing along for many years. They usually had what you needed, but it seemed you paid a premium for having it on hand.

Another option for consideration-

We use this one and have never had a problem.
Can mail order it from the source. Seems expensive at first but treats 5k gallons and we also change our 2 fuel filters 1/3 as often.

$200.04delivered(1 gal)/5,000gal=$0.0400008/gal for all the benefits in addition to alge preventative. .04/3.75per gallon = 1.1% increase in fuel cost for the additive makes sense to us.
