Prior to adding this to your post I was going to say you had been hosed. With all of the work that you did have done I would say that you paid just about what you should expect.
Clearly you are not in any of the larger West Coast cities or you would have paid a lot more!

Wow, that's really good for Portland, but you do get to save the sales tax and OR and WA tend to be much more affordable than CA.

logical?
That's six hours labor, job of that size is about right.

Sounds like a hose job but that's actually quite a bit of work.

Sounds a bit steep to me. I would think you could get the diesel engine and generator serviced for around $600-$700. Speedco will change your oil & filter for under $300.

On my ISB-350, I got an oil change, 2 fuel filters (all Fleetguard filters), generator oil change and fuel filter change, lube, check a bunch of stuff at Speedco for around $220-$230.

No transmission service, though.

Some of the parts cost may be guesses on the part of the shop. For example $50 for an engine oil filter is high and $28 for an engine air filter is low. One gallon of coolant for an engine radiator and generator flush is many gallons low. Of course some things are done yearly and others every 2,3,or 4 years. One yearly maintenance item missing is chassis lube. For all that they seem to be doing the price is ok.

That is close to the major service at the Freightliner factory shop in Gaffney. You are OK on the price I think

We paid under $400 for 24 qts of Delo, 1 oil filter, 2 fuel filters, 1 Allison filter and top off trans (what they recommend at out mileage). They lubed chassis, steam clean batteries, radiator, lower part of engine&trans, tire pressure, front wheel bearing oil top off, brake actuators lubed and 1 Onan 7.5 oil filter (I changed that oil myself). They spent over three hours...all in a "larger west coast city"
I went back the following week and purchased a C-7 air filter over the counter for $77.
C.W. quotes DP oil change with filter and 20 qts oil for $199, Onan 7.5 is $89 includes oil filter.

I wouldn't say you were hosed, you bought peace of mind and breakdown insurance for a year. They can't come back and say "ya shoulda done this too". And they found stuff CW would have probably missed.

Unless of course it is a gas pusher! Or unless you meant the extra pedaling you might be doing in the gasser -- something I have never fealt the need to do in mine.

My diy engine, trans (allison 6spd (transynd fluid good for 200k) and gen set service costs me on average less than $60 for oils, lube, and all filters. Of course my engine oil changes are every 3,000 miles and yours are at alot higher mileage. My yearly total is about diy $130 for 3 oil changes, 1 genset oil change, and one air filter and gas filter and lube grease. W/o diy it would be alot more.

A lot of the discussion would have been subverted if you had been more precise in the thread title - - what you had done was NOT annual oil/filter change.

All the work the OP talked about was for changing oils and filters...
Engine oils, generator oils, gear oils, transmission oils
Oil filters, air filters, transmission filters, water filters...

What part of that is NOT oils/filters????

sheese

give the guy a break..

Three of those 'oil changes', and I could just about replace my gas engine with a new one!

How many miles, typically, before a diesel engine oil change would be due, if going by mileage rather than time?
