Father was big in the local Lions club, they were having a Christmas tree sale and, while my father was out of town, showed up at the house and said they had my fathers permission to use it. Mother didn't know any better and couldn't get hole of dad so let them take it. Naturally they didn't take care of it and had damage done.
I loaned a gas weed eater to my neighbor, he brought it back broken, never offered to pay for it either. Too expensive to repair so I bought another one. Have never loaned it to him either.
"Friends" just don't take care of stuff like you do.

The Dr. said no she must be in a bed for the trip. They asked about a motorhome. The doctor said that would be OK. He asked to borrow my motorhome. After getting my heart started again, I told him I never loaned my motorhome, not even to my own children. I said I would drive them up there and bring mom and dad home if he would pay for the gas. Of course he jumped at that. I drove up the next day, spent the night in the hospital parking lot and we returned the next day. I did not have to loan my motorhome but still got the good feeling of helping a neighbor.
You win! That is the best neighbor story!

Just turn it around so they understand. "Thank goodness you called. Cousin Spike needs a house to hold a motorcycle rally in. I'll be over in a few minutes to swap keys." LOL

I didn't even elaborate on who these people are. She is the one who said she used to drive tractor trailers and would be driving.

'He' doesn't even have a drivers license now because of SEVERAL DUIs. As I said, we know them but ...............

You could say: Let me look at my title. If your name is on it, then I'll be happy to lend it to you.

I guess I'm just different than most. I've got friends that I would not hesitate letting use my motor home. In fact, I've loaned it out a couple times. Same with my boat, which is a lot tougher to deal with than a motor home. Just depends on who it is, how responsible they are and how much experience they have. Sure that might eliminate the majority of folks, but for the right person, its just not that big of a deal for me.

This subject has opened a discussion between us on what our answer would be. We decided that our tell would be that we are not a lending or rental institute. Your friendship is much toooo important to us

Why not just refer them to CruiseAmerica?

I'm in my mid 70s, but when I was in my early teens I was transported several times from my rural home to a hospital about 70 miles away in a funeral home hearse. Cars would stop, hats would be removed, heads would bow. Then eyes would bug-out when I would wave as we passed!😇😈
