CHANGING RV'ing ONE PALM AT A TIME

I am a past boat owner. The one thing that is true of all boat owners is that they will invariably wave at other boaters. It doesn't matter if you are in a row boat and the other guy is driving the 'Queen Mary'; you will get a wave.

The thing that seems to be true about RV'ers is that they rarely wave at each other. We pass each other by the thousands on the highway and rarely is a friendly wave exchanged. Sad.

So, in the spirit of boaters I have decided to wave at every other RV I meet on the highway. Doesn't matter what you are driving you are getting a wave. Doesn't matter how old or new your rig is, you are getting a wave. I have been stared at. I have been ignored and occasionally I have been waved back.

So prepare yourselves. That odd ball waving from the B+ going the other way is me and my Wife!

It's likely the people you are waving at are concentrating on the road because they haven't installed a track bar yet. If you get close enough to them as they pass, you might see white knuckles on the hands on the steering wheel...

I like you have owned boat and still own a motorcycle and have waved at passing boat and bike riders. I think we should wave at each other as we pass by. I will be waving also. Hope one day to be waving at you.

Bikes and boats in my past too and I couldn't figure out why RVers didn't wave back either. I still wave if it's a two lane road and I'll hit flash my running lights if a rig is coming the other way on an interstate.

I'll bet I've gotten a return rate of about 10%.

Waved from Kingston Ontario all the way down to Gettysburg Pa. and back. My Wife insists that I keep both hands on the wheel which limits my waving time somewhat . ..... . . . .

Most other RV'ers did not wave back although I did get a wave from a State Trooper who was behind a big 'A' on I-15 just outside Gettysburg.

This may turn into a long term project!!

I wave. sometimes I'll bump the hadleys too! My cb is always on, I've been using cb radios since the late 60's
If you come down to my neck of the woods you will find that most RV's with southern tags will wave or at least wave back. I had a yankee customer that moved here tell me that once when a neighbor waved at him and he didn't wave back the neighbor came to his house to find out why he was being unfriendly. That said in all of our travels so far I have encountered very few unfriendly people; especialy RVers

We sometimes wave...and get waves, but ppl are friendly around here (for the most part anyway).

Jeep (wrangler) owners wave to each other more often than not. Buy a jeep and see for yourself. My friend bought one and the salesman said exactly that. He thought that was foolishness until he was waved at by 3 people the first day he owned it...I told him it's normal.

Just got back from a trip up to Algonquin park in central Ontario ( highly recommended trip for anyone who likes to travel two lane roads through the north woods). Waved at a couple of RV'ers going the other way one day. The next day I happened upon one of them at a general store and he recognized my rig. He cam over and apologized for not waving back the day before!! He said that he was so surprised that he was wondering what I was doing before realizing I was just signaling 'HI'. By then it was too late. He promised to continue waving at other RV'ers during his travels.

I have a convert!!!!
