Dog Days of Summer

We are considering purchasing a B/B+ in the 21-25 ft range. ( Sold our Winnebago ) We travel with our two dogs and are concerned about parking the RV on hot summer days for a few hours at venues which do not allow pets. We assume that running the generator to power the air (and fridge) while the RV is occupied only by the dogs might be frowned upon by some sites ?? 12 volt AC and fridge would solve the problem but we're unsure if enough battery bank / solar panel could be installed to carry the load for 3-5 hour periods. ( Also, we've wondered about really hot Summer days when at a venue that doesn't allow generators at night but this is less of a concern. )Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Most Class B RVs with 12v 3 way fridges only operate on 12v when the engine is running. They would consume all your battery capacity in a short period of time. If you're traveling with two dogs in summer, I think compromises must be made. Either go to dog-friendly places or split up and one stays with the dogs while the other visits venues that don't allow pets. To leave dogs in an RV (or car) is as cruel as leaving a child behind. Most campgrounds forbid leaving dogs behind in the RV, no matter what the size.

Thanks Bob and Donna . We were afraid this might be the only solution . Yes , leaving our dogs is not an option . In our case , they are our children !

I have traveled with a small dog (Havanese) all of my RV life, going on 28 years. In my previous coaches (DP's), we confined the dog in a kennel when we were away. The AC of course was running if necessary. Now it is just the dog and me in a Winnebago Era. She still stays at home when I go out sightseeing or meals or whatever but now she has free reign of the coach. Still the AC is on either with generator or shore power. I do not leave her alone unless appropriate temperature can be maintained but I cannot predict campground power failures, etc.
